Personality Discussion Board

Siberia Personality Discussion Board

Stub/prototype/ideas from a post by invicta to Siberia:

mission: to promote, explore, and refine progressive understanding of the human experience

product:

§      a community for theorists to share and test their personality theories and systems
§      a community for early adopters to test new personality theories and systems
§      an atmosphere of innovation, exploration, and the exchange of ideas

niche: the only unaffiliated, non-commercial forum to provide exposure for all new and existing personality systems and theories.

strengths: progressive atmosphere, nearly no moderation, information source, collective creativity, networking opportunities for theorists, the latest in personality theories for those interested in self-discovery, intelligent discourse.

weaknesses: dominance of competing forums—most notably the EIDB, lack of exposure, lack of an exclusive domain

opportunities: growing interest in self-discovery, personal growth, and psychology

threats: possible obscurity through the large number of competing sites

implementation: targeted site promotion highlighting the specific benefits that make Siberia a uniquely desirable forum

Could the board become associated with similarminds, or ptypes or some other personality typing group that offers tests etc. a way to bring in fresh energy? (Hope no one takes this as an insult.)

an oldham forum led by our very own ptypes?
lets do something similar to the board jan had on 9types. we discuss the styles/types for historical, political, social, fictional figures. it was a lot of fun, stirred a lot of debate, and promoted a lot of educational discussion about oldham, myers and enneagram. it would also open the door to more oldham discussion and require us to leave behind some of the mundane vocabulary. since we have so many colorful members on the board, it would make for some fun to see whose personality matches up the best with whoever we happen to be discussing. that could always be a fun element thrown into the pot. might as well stir up the eternal.

1. a voice room: instead of communicating through the written word, we download our voice responses. of course not everyone could take part in it because it requires a mic which to communicate through. but i think once a few people, or even one, takes advantage of the voice room, more people will get equipped. even if only a few people could take part in ths, it would be a good draw even for those who want to listen. most of us have speakers, and most of us are curious about the voice at the other end.

2. interview: once a week someone conducts a candid interview with one member over the phone and then writes it for us to see. i say over the phone because it will help catch certain traits in the person we miss in their writing style. the interviewer would preferably stay the same, be a trusted member, and willing to talk long=distance. it will also give us a chance to learn more about members who don't always get much attention. it will also draw people in who figure that they will get a turn in the spotlight as well.

Anyway, I think maybe we should trash the enneagram theme and just make it a more general psychology/personality board. I know that is ultimately up to Carrie. I like the enneagram but it appears this board doesn't have enough members to keep the theme going sufficiently. Bluelotus, I think your idea is good, it would definitely generate more members. Siberia really needs more advertisement. Ethan, you count as 5 members on your own, which is fantastic and I bow down to you and your energy. You should bottle that stuff. I'd buy some off of ebay.

I realize that this board is more than just the enneagram as it is now, but making it officially so would allow people even more liberty and may entice more outsiders who aren't knowledgable on the enneagram. Just throwing an idea out there.

Ptypes
Feature PTypes' Typology.

Determine, study, and discuss everyone's PType. Have as regular topics discussion of the noteworthy examples (that would include Ethan, now) on PTypes, their literary, artistic, and scientific works.

I will list Siberia members on their appropriate PTypes page. Members' posts may be linked to and quoted on PTypes' pages.

Get into your PType, and learn to, also, find the other personality type patterns in your personality. We could talk about philosophy and practices to deal with problem areas.

Maybe I'll just publish my sexual dynamics and the enneagram theory here. I'll just copy write it first.

Create another forum where trolling is the norm. You try to play any type of your choosing under a different alias and others try to sniff you out. You get to apply theory/your knowledge to see if you really understand the type you're trying to pretend to be.

I just realized I haven't answered this, and I fear the wrath of Invicta should I fail to heed her edict (yeah right, Invicta. I know you are just a kitten who likes to roar sometimes).

I'm in a rush, but I wanted to say that I do love the ptypes idea. Also I posted something a long time ago agreeing with what AJ just said - the E is too narrow. Somehow the perspective should be broadened.

I will keep posting here no matter what though, because, as bluelotus pointed out, noone else has such an extensive collection of animated smileys!

Technical tips section for the creation of tests—share your methods, or get advice.
Early Innovators section for discussion of the practices, theories, and contributions of Freud, Jung, Pavlov, etc.
