Beliefs and Attitudes in Cognitive Theory
According to Beck, Freeman, Davis & associates (pg. 50), each personality disorder involves a basic strategy based on specific attitudes and beliefs.
They (pg. 323) also say that:
"According to Beck's model (e.g., Beck, Rush, Shaw, & Emery, 1979), cognitive theory 'is based on the underlying theoretical rationale that an individual's affect and behavior are largely determined by the way in which he structures the world. His cognitions . . . are based on attitudes or assumptions . . . developed from previous experiences' (p. 3)."
